Vicente out of Inter clash

Vicente will miss Valencia's Champions League tie with Internazionale due to injury.

Valencia have confirmed that Vicente will miss the club's UEFA Champions League tie against Internazionale on 21st February.

The Spanish international has been condemned to the treatment room following an ankle injury which rules him out of the last 16, first leg encounter at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Vicente picked up the problem in a 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid at the start of the month and will now be hoping to recover in time for the second leg in Spain on 6th March.

The loss of Vicente is a sizeable blow for the Che, with key midfielder Ruben Baraja also rated as doubtful due to a muscular problem.

Baraja will undergo further examinations on Monday before the club make a decision on his availability, but the star is desperate to play, stating: "I want to play against Inter but the decision depends on the doctors."

Valencia are also focusing on league concerns and have a seven-point gap to close if they are to challenge current Liga leaders Barcelona, whom they play at the Mestalla at the weekend.

Los Cules have suffered from dressing room disputes in recent days, although Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o seemed to settle their differences on Wednesday, and Roberto Ayala is hopeful that Valencia can take advantage of any disunity at Camp Nou.

"I hope that the things that have been happening there have a great effect on Barca and that we can score three goals against them," said the Argentinian defender.

"This game will see three very important points at stake and it could take us much closer to them."
