Valencia are intent on signing Jorge Andrade from Deportivo La Coruna, according to reports in Spain.
The defender's current contract expires in June 2009 but Depor are believed to be ready to cash in this summer.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Andrade in recent weeks and the player has made no secret of his desire to play alongside fellow Portuguese international Ricardo Carvalho.
However, Valencia have reportedly contacted Depor sport director Amedeo Carboni already to make an offer for Andrade.
Valencia, who lost 3-0 to Getafe on Sunday, are keen to strengthen their defence in the summer to help them challenge for the title next term.
Their proposal is rumoured to involve money plus two players, Hugo Viana and Fabian Estoyanoff.
