Valencia midfielder Edu admits he was left devastated after suffering a serious knee ligament injury for the second season running.
The Brazilian tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in the 3-0 reverse at Sevilla and now faces up to seven months on the sidelines.
The 28-year-old, who suffered the same injury to his left knee last term, instantly recognised the gravity of his predicament, but is trying to remain upbeat.
"It's an injury that requires you to work long and hard day on day to recover, but I must be strong and I will be to recuperate," he stated.
"I knew straightaway. When I fell to the ground I knew that it was serious and I felt very low.
"Last night I was very sad, but today I woke up with my kids and felt more positive.
"Now I am just thinking about the operation and returning on schedule."
Just as he did last season, the former Arsenal man will return to his native Brazil for surgery in the near future.
