Valencia defender Emiliano Moretti faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

The full back picked up a knee injury in Sunday's draw with Espanyol.

Scans have shown that Moretti has sustained medial knee ligament damage and is expected to be out of action for three months.

It means the Italian will miss the remainder of Valencia's UEFA Champions League group matches and a crucial chunk of La Liga campaign.

Valencia have been blighted by injuries this term with the lies of David Albelda, Vicente, Ruben Baraja, Asier del Horno, Carlos Marchena and Jaime Gavilan all currently sidelined.
