Valencia have been dealt a further injury blow with the news that Jaime Gavilan faces six months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
Gavilan damaged his knee against Racing Santander on Saturday and tests on Sunday confirmed he tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee at El Sardinero.
Quique Sanchez Flores has seen Asier Del Horno, Vicente, Carlos Marchena and David Albelda enter the treatment room with long-term injuries and the loss of Gavilan will be an added blow to the coach.
Doctors have informed Gavilan that he will be sidelined for at least six months and the club may take the view that they will omit the midfielder from their plans for the remainder of the season.
