Valencia defender David Navarro is struggling to play again this season after straining knee ligaments.

The centre back picked up the injury in a training session last Saturday ahead of the home game with Espanyol.

He was ordered to rest the complaint until Tuesday when he underwent tests to ascertain the full extent of the damage.

The tests revealed no tear, but damage to the external ligament in his left knee.

It means the 25-year-old, a target for Liverpool last summer, will be in the treatment room for around three to four weeks meaning he could have played his last game this term.
