Deportivo La Coruna defender Joan Capdevila has hit out at Pablo Aimar after the Argentine was caught spitting at him during the 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday night.

An incident-packed game saw both sides end with ten men, although Aimar was fortunate not to see red as his misdemeanour was not seen by referee Eduardo Iturralde Gonzalez.

The Argentine lost his cool after a heavy aerial challenge from Capdevila and spat in the defender's face - much to the Depor man's annoyance.

Aimar could still face censure from the Spanish football authorities and Capdevila believes he over-stepped the mark with his actions.

"I believe Aimar crossed the line, and what's more he did not apologise afterwards," Capdevila stated.

"I clashed with him in the air, saw that he was bleeding and went over to see if he was okay. Then he spat at me.

"I can't ask for a fellow player to be punished, that's what we have (disciplinary) committees for.

"I would rather concentrate on Aimar the player because he is one of the stars of the Spanish league."
