Vicente commits to Valencia

Valencia have agreed contract extensions with Vicente and Andres Palop.

Valencia have agreed contract extensions with Spain international winger Vicente and goalkeeper Andres Palop.

Vicente has signed an improved deal that ties him to the Mestalla outfit until 2011.

The news will come as a huge boost to the club and their fans as the player had publicly vented his anger and disappointment at his contractual situation earlier in the summer.

The 23-year-old was already under contract at Valencia until 2007, but was keen to sign a new long-term deal to commit his future to his hometown club.

However, he was left massively underwhelmed by the Che's opening offer and claimed he would see out the remaining years of his deal before leaving on a free transfer.

A number of top European sides were alerted to his situation, with Manchester United and Juventus amongst his admirers, and his agent Alejandro Cermeno confirmed that he had fielded several offers for his client.

However, after extended negotiations, the two parties have resolved their differences, and Vicente expressed his joy at finalising the new deal.

"This is the club that I want to play for forever and I have renewed (my contract) because of the love I have for it, and because I am very happy here," he stated.

"I like the project for the future and I want to win more titles with Valencia."

Joining Vicente in penning a new contract at the club is custodian Palop.

The 31-year-old, who will compete with Santiago Canizares for the number one spot, has committed himself to the club until 2008, but admits he thought long and hard about his future.

"For me it was a very important decision and it took some time because I wanted to really think about it," Palop declared.

"I decided because of interest and confidence Valencia had demonstrated in me, and because I am very happy here, to stay with the club."

Valencia will hoping to tie down three other players to new deals with Miguel Angel Angulo, Mista and Curro Torres all out of contract at the end of the season.
