VALENCIA striker John Carew has pledged his future to the Primera club and is confident that they will enjoy a successful season next term.

The Norwegian was top scorer at the Mestalla last term with 11 goals in all competitions, but boss Rafa Benitez has still invested in another striker in the form of Brazilian Ricardo Oliveira.

There are now seven forwards vying for a starting berth at the club, but Carew insists he is happy to fight for his place and believes the competition can only be good for the team.

"I am convinced I am going to stay, if there had been offers I would not have been interested in any," said the towering hit-man.

Carew also had words of praise for the new arrivals at the Mestalla, and backed them to make an impact in La Liga.

On Mohamed Sissoko he commented: "He is a good lad, he doesn't speak much as he hasn't mastered Spanish but he can go on to be a very good player."

While on Nestor Canobbio he added: "He is very young but he has quality and with time can be a good footballer, and important for Valencia."
