Winger Ryan Smith has earned a two-week trial with Real Zaragoza after departing Major League Soccer side Kansas City.
The 24-year-old, who moved to the USA from Crystal Palace last February, is available on a free transfer after his deal at Kansas ended.
Smith was supposed to undergo a trial at Mexican side Atlas last week but legal details prevented the move.
The forward, a former England youth international, is now hoping to win a permanent contract at the Primera Liga club.
"I've arrived to play in La Liga," said Smith. "That is my intention and I want to profit from this chance."
Smith started his career at Arsenal in 2003 but made just a handful of appearances for the club before departing for Derby.
The winger has also spent time playing at Leicester, Millwall and Southampton.
