Real Zaragoza striker Ewerthon has been ruled out for up to three weeks after tests revealed that he had torn his thigh muscle.

The Brazilian limped out of the his side's 3-1 victory over Gimnastic Tarragona at the weekend, nine minutes before half-time.

Tests have now revealed that he suffered a slight tear in his left femoral bicep and has been told he faces a race against time to play again before the Christmas break.

After scoring only once in the opening seven games of the season, the former Borussia Dortmund forward lost his place to Sergio Garcia earlier last month.
