Ponzio seals Zaragoza switch

REAL ZARAGOZA have completed the signing of midfielder Leonardo Ponzio from Newells Old Boys.

The newly-promoted Primera outfit have splashed out ‚é¼3 million (£2.1 million) to complete a permanent transfer for the talented 21-year-old.

Ponzio, who will be officially unveiled by the club on Thursday, has signed a four-year deal at La Romareda earning around ‚é¼600,000 (£400,000) per annum.

Ponzio holds an Italian passport and will not thus take up one of the three spots reserved for foreign players in Spanish squads next term.

The talented youngster becomes Zaragoza's third signing of the close season, following the captures of former Real Madrid winger Savio and Sporting Gijon striker David Villa Sanchez.

Ponzio has admitted his delight at the prospect of a switch to Spain, and insists he can have an impact in La Liga despite his tender years.

"I know that I am very young, and not all 21-year-old's can go to Spain, but I believe I am ready to go there," stated the player.
