Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas says he has sorted out his issues with Spain team-mate Sergio Ramos after the Real Madrid star questioned his commitment to the national team.
Fabregas has missed Spain's last two matches - a 3-0 defeat of Belarus in a Euro 2016 qualifying and a 1-0 loss to Germany in a friendly - with injury.
But the 27-year-old has made 17 appearances for the Blues this season, including the 2-1 win over Liverpool immediately before the international break and the recent victories over West Brom and Schalke.
I already told Sergio what I thought about his comments. I told him that we played together since the U21s and there was no need for him to send messages through the press.
Ramos queried the absence of Fabregas and Blues striker Diego Costa, much to the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder's annoyance.
"Yes, I felt like he was alluding to me," Fabregas told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.
"I hate that someone doubts my commitment. I have played many games (for Spain) and have joined the national team many times without playing.
"I've played a total of 94 games for Spain, I've been going for nine years, always. And with a big smile.
"I already told Sergio what I thought about his comments. I told him that we played together since the U21s and there was no need for him to send messages through the press.
"I said to him that he could call me up and tell it to my face. Everything is clear now and that's what we had to do, to speak.
"We spoke on the phone and everything is fine."
Fabregas said he had a hamstring issue which required rest and treatment during the international break.
"I had a tendinitis in my left leg and had I played, I could have suffered the same situation as (Luka) Modric," he added, referring to the thigh injury that the Real Madrid midfielder aggravated playing for Croatia against Italy which will now keep him out of action for several weeks.
"I told the coach and everything was fine. He had the same thing when he was a player."
Fabregas, who has been in superb form for a rampant Chelsea since joining from Barca, has appeared in Spain's 2-1 defeat by Slovakia and the 5-1 win over Macedonia this season and was an unused substitute against Luxembourg.
