Reading owner Anton Zingarevich has revealed that Denis Cheryshev could join the club, while he is dreaming of one day finishing in the top six.
Highly-rated Russian winger Cheryshev, 21, currently plies his trade with Real Madrid's B side, Castilla, and is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future.
Zingarevich admits the Royals have been keeping a close eye on Cheryshev and hopes to bring him to the Madejski Stadium.
"Our scouts watched Cheryshev in Castilla's match against Barcelona B," Zingarevich told Sport Express.
"Denis played 20 minutes. I can't guarantee that he will come to Reading, but it's possible, and Denis himself knows this."
Zingarevich believes Reading are in such a strong financial position that they can set their sights higher than other recently promoted clubs such as Norwich City.
"They don't have the same potential as us," he said. "We don't want to be a team from a single city, we're interested in everything around us - the region along the Thames, even as far as Bristol.
"In the off-season we were negotiating with players at the level of England internationals. People like the club."
Zingarevich added: "If the plan which is in my head comes to fruition, Reading will be in the hunt for a European spot. That means a top-six finish.
"This year the club is valued at a minimum of £70million. From next year, with the increase in television rights payments, it'll be £100million."
