Jose Mourinho was sliding on the turf once again when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late winner against Manchester City
Jose Mourinho believes his Real Madrid team deserved their last-gasp 3-2 victory over Manchester City at the Bernabeu.
Goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo turned the game around in the final minutes to break City hearts after Aleksandar Kolarov looked to have won it for the visitors.
All five goals came in the second half of this Group D encounter in the UEFA Champions League with Edin Dzeko slotting home the opener for City before Marcelo's deflected equaliser.
And Mourinho was delighted with his team's reaction to twice going behind in front of their own fans.
"It was a great match," the Real Madrid boss told Sky Sports.
"The first half we should be winning. In the second half Roberto (Mancini) felt he had to do more in attack so he opened the game more and he scored the goal.
"But after that my team was fantastic in their reaction. I think we deserved totally the victory.
"But it was a good match not just for the people that love football but also the people that study football because it was a complete match - it was a match with a big history."
The dramatic turnaround was much needed for Mourinho as his side have made a dismal start to their defence of the Spanish title - losing to Getafe and Sevilla already this season.
He added: "I am happy because I can say to my players now that if you give absolutely everything and that if you believe to the last second then you can (win). This was my team of last season.
"We cannot play like we did we did in Seville at the weekend or in Getafe two weeks ago.
"This is Real Madrid - this is the history of Real Madrid - and that is why I was so happy."
