Klaus Allofs is hopeful striker Hugo Almeida will sign a new contract with Werder Bremen.

General manager claims there have been 'no offers' for forward

Klaus Allofs is hopeful striker Hugo Almeida will sign a new contract with Werder Bremen. The general manager insists the club are aiming to hold on to their prized asset despite reported interest from Valencia. However, the Portugal international intimated he would prefer a January transfer move to Real Madrid where he is keen to link up with Jose Mourinho. The 26-year-old's contract expires next summer and Allofs believes Bremen must convince the player that his future lies with the Bundesliga club. He told Sportinformationsdienst: "We will be having talks about a new deal with Almeida. "We have to try to keep a hold of him and convince him that he must remain at the Weserstadion. "There are no indications at this moment that he will be moving elsewhere this winter. "We have received no enquiries and no offers. We don't want any!"
