Promising Burnley striker attracting interest of Pearce

Burnley boss Brian Laws has hailed the progress of Jay Rodriguez after revealing the striker is on the radar of England Under 21s. The 21-year-old forward has attracted the attention of England U21 boss Stuart Pearce after scoring three goals for the Clarets this season. He could now earn inclusion in Pearce's squad for the friendly in Germany on 16th November. Revealing the U21 interest, Laws said: "We are obviously delighted with Jay's progress this season and I think, at this moment in time, he's in good form. "It's no surprise that the likes of Stuart Pearce and the England U21s are looking at him because he is at the right age of talent that England are looking for. "The progress he has made has obviously catapulted him into the eyes of the England U21s and to get recognition already - by being looked at - suggests he is going in the right direction. "We just have to make sure he keeps progressing and doing the things he is doing and hopefully he will get that recognition with a call-up."
