Real defender to miss key games

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa is set to be sidelined for two weeks after picking up a knee problem in training. The Spanish full-back, who moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from Liverpool over the summer, was challenged by team-mate Mahamadou Diarra during a session earlier this week. Scans have now confirmed that it will take around a fortnight for Arbeloa to make a full recovery. He will therefore miss the Primera Liga matches against Villarreal, Tenerife and Sevilla, as well as the UEFA Champions League encounter with Marseille. Diarra has apologised to Arbeloa for causing the injury, saying: "I am sad because it was only a normal part of our work."
