Real Zaragoza have captured Real Madrid wing back Carlos Diogo on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old, a regular in the Uruguayan national side, joined Real from River Plate last summer.
Regarded as one for the future, he was handed a five-year deal by Real and made a total of 20 appearances last term.
However, he did not feature in the first-team plans of new coach Fabio Capello for the coming season and was informed he could leave the club on loan.
A switch to Zaragoza was first mooted around a month ago and Diogo - who can operate at full back or in midfield - admits he had almost given up hope of the move going through.
However, his patience has now been rewarded and he is looking forward to pulling on the Zaragoza jersey.
"A couple of days ago I thought it had all fallen through," Diogo explained. "But luckily it has now happened, although I had to wait.
"I was getting nervous, but now I am very happy to be here.
"I liked Zaragoza even before I came to Spain because they play good, open football.
"I wanted to stay in Spain and when I heard Zaragoza were interested I didn't have to think twice."
