Deportivo La Coruna have completed the signing of Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa.
The 23-year-old came through the youth ranks at the Santiago Bernabeu and was captain of the club's B team, Real Madrid Castilla.
He has been a member of Real's first-team squad for the past couple of seasons but has failed to secure regular football.
He has now opted to end his five-year association with the capital club in search of a fresh challenge at Depor.
"It's a slightly strange situation as I have spent five years here," Arbeloa explained. "They have treated me really well and it's a difficult step to take.
"But I want to play in the Primera Division and the best players in the world come here so it is difficult.
"Deportivo la Coruna is one of the biggest clubs in Spain and has Joaquin Caparros as manager - I am sure I will learn a lot and that it will go well for me there.
"The important thing is they have shown great confidence in me."
Depor have made a raft of new signings as they look to improve on an eighth-place finish last term, Arbeloa being the tenth new arrival at The Riazor this summer.
