Celta Vigo are rumoured to have begun talks with Real Madrid to sign defender Alvaro Mejia on loan.
Coach Fernando Vazquez has lost the services of defenders Sergio Fernandez and Mendez for next season and is eager to bring in a recognised stopper to replace them.
Mejia is not expected to be in Fabio Capello's plans for next season and the Italian tactician will allow the 24-year-old to go out on loan to gain first-team experience.
Negotiations between the two clubs have reportedly already begun, although any deal would be unable to go through until the beginning of August as the Spaniard is currently on a tour of Austria with the rest of Real's squad.
Celta are hopeful that a season-long loan deal will be struck for Mejia, who is well down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mejia was due to spend last season out on loan but was held back to cover injuries to Jonathan Woodgate and Ivan Helguera.
