Cruzeiro central defender, Edu Dracena, admits that he would be very happy and proud to be transferred to Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old has worked with Madrid manager Wanderley Luxemburgo in the past, and the latter is believed to be keen to renew the partnership.

Such a move would delight Dracena, who said: "There isn't anything official yet but if I have the chance of playing at Real Madrid I would be very proud.

"I know that in Spain the press is talking about me so if that happens I am very proud. In my opinion Real Madrid is one of the most important teams in the world. But at the moment it's only speculation.

"I know the coach of Real Madrid from when we worked together at Cruzeiro. He likes the way in which I play but we have only spoken lately about personal things, nothing about Real Madrid.

"I wish that the transfer could be real. Now I have to work very hard in Brazil so if the news is confirmed I could arrive in Real Madrid doing a very good job."

Meanwhile, Roberto Carlos has entered the 'Robinho to Real Madrid' saga, insisting that Santos should allow the Brazilian wonderkid to become 'the best player in the world'.

Roberto Carlos claimed: "I am sure that Robinho will play at Real Madrid and that he is going to have success in Spain.

"I hope that he is released soon by Santos because they can't cut his career, he has already said he wants to play at Real Madrid.

"People must understand that in Brazil there are many problems. He (Robinho) has been the victim of the kidnapping of his mother so he wants to breathe new air now. It's normal that he wants to leave Brazil.

"I am sure that Robinho is going to be the best player in the world shortly. He is going to be a great help for Real Madrid in our objective of winning all the competitions that we are going to play next season."
