Walter Samuel has completed his big-money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal with La Liga outfit.

The South American star passed a stringent medical earlier on Thursday and has now finalised the move after signing his lucrative contract.

Samuel does not feel the pressure of having to perform despite a hefty transfer fee is looking forward to wearing the famous white Real shirt.

"I'm really proud that Real decided to sign me," said the 26-year-old.

"I don't feel any extra pressure about joining Real as that's something I've always had at all my previous clubs.

"My aim is just to play well and help Real win titles."

With Real forking out a whopping ‚é¼25 million to Roma for the Argentine star, the club were keen for the stopper to undergo a stringent medical before finalising the deal.

Real were keen to test out Samuel's left knee as it had undergone surgery in the past, but the defender passed with flying colours.

"Everything was satisfactory and there are no reasons why the signing should not go through," explained club doctor Juan Carlos.

"He has had surgery on his left knee in the past, but it has recovered completely and is in very strong shape."

After Real fell away in the title race last term, the team were keen to bring in quality, and Samuel is just one piece of the puzzle to regaining their league crown.
