REAL MADRID ace Esteban Cambiasso is a major doubt for the opening Champions League clash against Marseille on Tuesday through injury.
The Argentine midfielder sustained an ankle injury in Saturday's 7-2 romp against Valladolid and was forced off early in the second half.
Cambiasso is hopeful of shaking off the problem and being fit for the visit of Marseille to El Santiago Bernabeu.
"It was a hard blow to the ankle that has given me much pain," said Cambiasso.
"I will see on Monday if the ligament is inflamed or not. If it is on that day we could make a decision.
"We hope that the ligament is not affected because if it is it will mean I will be out for a longer time, but I am optimistic as are the doctors."
