ITALIAN Under-21 coach Claudio Gentile has paid homage to the current Juventus side and compared them to the team he graced as a player.

Alongside Turin greats such as Antonio Cabrini, Dino Zoff and Marco Tardelli, Gentile formed an integral part of the formidable Juve team of the early 1980s.

"I recognise myself the will to win and winning disposition of this team," said Gentile.

"Seeing these players play is like seeing a few old team-mates out on the field.

"The Bianconeri has a big interest in winning this Scudetto race.

"Only they can lose it now. Juve have won it on merit and because of coach Marcello Lippi."

As for the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, the 1982 Azzurri World Cup winning defender said the Old Lady of Italy must keep a close eye on French superstar and former Juve great Zinedine Zidane.

"For him, it's absolutely necessary to mark closely," added Gentile.

"He is Real's inspiration and so there will be a big clash between Zidane and Edgar Davids.

"Guts and wickedness against class and elegance."
