Samuel denies Madrid talks

ARGENTINIAN international defender Walter Samuel has denied holding talks with Real Madrid over a possible move to Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Newell's Old Boys and Boca Juniors stopper was in superb form for Roma in Wednesday night's 1-0 win over Madrid in the Champions League, adding even more fuel to the fire.

However, the 24-year-old has denied that any negotiations have even taken place, and stressed that he will see out his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

"I do not want to end my contract with Roma before it expires in July 2004," said Samuel.

"I haven't been called by anyone from Real Madrid, and I don't know anything about the supposed interest of this team in me.

"My idea is to continue in Roma because I feel very comfortable here."

Should Real make an offer to the Serie A giants for the star, it is unlikely Roma would sell as the club's president Franco Sensi has always stated the defender is simply not for sale at any price.
