Forgotten Reading man Daniel Carrico could be brought out of the cold by boss Nigel Adkins in a last-ditch survival attempt.
The beleaguered Royals sit 10 points adrift of safety at the foot of the Premier League table, and know that they somehow need to win all of their remaining fixtures to have any chance of remaining in the top flight next season.
Adkins understands the task at hand and, after impressing as a substitute in Reading's draw with Liverpool last time out, Carrico may get the call again at Norwich.
"He's joined the club and has hardly have a kick of a ball," Adkins told the Daily Mirror.
"I've seen the video clips that were put together when he signed and on the back of that he is a player who has got something about him."
The 24-year-old has made just two appearances since his £600,000 switch from Sporting Lisbon in January, but the new Royals boss insists that Carrico has a future at the club, whatever happens.
"When you come to a new country it takes time to settle," he added.
"I'm positive about the future for him."
