Plenty of attention for Pareja

Espanyol have revealed that a number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing Nicolas Pareja.

Spaniards also seal deal for Osvaldo

Espanyol have revealed that a number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing Nicolas Pareja. The Argentine defender has been a virtual ever present for the Catalan club since arriving from Anderlecht in 2008. His rapid progress in Spain has brought him to the attention of national coach Diego Maradona and he earned his first international cap in 2009. Pareja was overlooked for this summer's World Cup finals, but that has done little to curb the interest of his potential suitors. "It is true that there have been several clubs interested in him and have asked about the conditions of his signing," Espanyol's sporting director Germain de la Cruz said in Marca. "We have not received any offers and have not started negotiations, but there is interest from within the Spanish league."

Returning

Meanwhile, Espanyol have reached an agreement which will see Pablo Osvaldo remain at the club for one more season. The Argentina striker initially moved to Spain in January, from Bologna, and he saw out the 2009/10 campaign in Catalunya. With first-team opportunities likely to be limited once again should he return to Italy, it has been decided that he would be best served taking in another 12 months with Espanyol. The agreement includes an option for a permanent deal to be struck should both sides wish to do so, but Espanyol would rather wait until at least the New Year before making any decision.
