De Sanctis to battle at Sevilla

Morgan de Sanctis is ready to fight with Andres Palop to become Sevilla's first choice.

Morgan de Sanctis is ready to fight with Andres Palop to become Sevilla's first-choice goalkeeper.

The Italian cancelled his contract with Udinese on Monday and has signed a four-year deal with the Uefa Cup winners.

Palop has been the undisputed No.1 for Sevilla and De Sanctis is aware he has a battle on his hands to become a regular in the team.

"I know that Palop is doing very well," said De Sanctis. "It's not a problem.

"To be competitive it's normal that there are two fighting for the post.

"I don't want to cause problems. I'll be at the disposal of the coach.

"It's a great opportunity for a player of 30 years to receive an offer from such an important club as Sevilla."

Udinese will be entitled to some form of compensation for De Sanctis' departure, with the figure to be decided at a later date.
