Sevilla have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Enzo Maresca will be out of action for a month.
The Italian has been a key member of Juande Ramos' first team this term having joined last summer from Juventus.
He has already made 24 appearances weighing in with seven goals from midfield.
However, he will be absent for the next four weeks after suffering a partial rupture of his right Achilles tendon against Athletic Bilbao last weekend.
He was forced off shortly after the hour mark in his side's 2-1 win, although Sevilla did not initially expect the damage to be so serious.
Ramos - whose side are chasing a top four spot in La Primera and are also through to the last 16 of the Uefa Cup - will now be forced to shuffle his midfield options, but is confident he has sufficient quality in his squad to cope.
"The news on Maresca is negative, but the squad players have demonstrated their quality when they help the team," the Sevilla coach commented.
