Atletico Madrid striker Salva Ballesta has accused Sevilla duo Javi Navarro and Pablo Alfaro of setting out to deliberately foul other players.

Navarro (pictured) is being investigated after he left Juan Arango with a broken cheekbone and 42 stitches in a mouth wound after elbowing him in the face during a recent clash with Mallorca.

Salva has been on the receiving end of some harsh treatment from the central defensive duo in the past and has now called for Spanish football's governing body to act strongly against the tough tackling duo.

"If I was on the disciplinary committee I would know what had to be done," he said.

"They (Navarro and Alfaro) are always thinking about the next hit or blow and they do this three or four times in every game.

"When I played against them they elbowed me in the neck because they found my goal hard to swallow.

"They use blows and knocks that are premeditated and they have to be sanctioned now."
