Sevilla and Valencia are fighting it out to claim a UEFA Champions League berth and they cancelled each other out in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Valencia are steadily adapting to life without Claudio Ranieri and goals from David Navarro and Pablo Aimar nullified efforts from Jesuli and Julio Baptista to ensure the points were shared.

Baptista had a chance to claim the win for Sevilla, but blasted a spot kick over the bar six minutes from time, while Valencia had a late effort chalked off for a foul.

A late goal from Antonio Pacheco earned struggling Albacete a point in their home clash with Osasuna, who thought they were on course for three points when Richard Morales fired them in front with 20 minutes remaining.

Malaga lifted themselves further away from the drop zone with a gritty 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, Juan Rodriguez scoring the only goal inside 60 seconds.

Real Sociedad were another team to ease their relegation fears with a vital three points.

Sociedad were forced to come from behind to get the better of Zaragoza, with goals from Valery Karpin and Jose Barkero turning the game on its head after Alberto Zapater had given the visitors a first half advantage.

Getafe earned a point from their clash with Deportivo La Coruna, with Gabriel Arenas' strike 17 minutes from time cancelling out Diego Tristan's first half strike.

Struggling Racing Santander got the better of their contest with Atletico Madrid.

Fernando Torres had given Atletico an early lead from the penalty spot, but they could not contain Racing, as goals from Mario Regueiro and David Aganzo earned them a fine three points.

Diego Forlan scored a late goal as Villarreal got the better of Mallorca, while Numancia remain bottom after taking a point from their trip to Levante.
