Porto eye Barca pair

PORTO president Antonio Pinto de Costa has confirmed the club's interest in Barcelona duo Thiago Motta and Javier Saviola.

The Porto supremo sent a fax to Barca vice president Sandro Rosell on Monday asking the Catalans to quote a price for the pair.

Pinto da Costa admitted that if Barca's demands were reasonable then a deal could materialise in the near future.

"If the conditions are good and suit us, why shouldn't we sign them?", he stated.

"We are not interested in swap deals. What we want, if the price is reasonable, is to sign these players, infact we also have an investor interested in supporting us."

Pinto da Costa's comments regarding swap deals seem certain to be in reference to recent speculation linking Barca with a move for Porto's prize asset, playmaker Deco.

The Portuguese outfit remain adamant that the midfielder will stay at the club, and their president added; "I know well that there are not two Decos."

Meanwhile, young Barcelona defender Fernando Navarro has undergone surgery on a knee injury.

The 21-year-old has been sidelined for two months with the knock and the club decided to operate in a bid to resolve the problem once and for all.

Navarro is now likely to be out of action for a further two months due to the surgery.
