Crawley have completed the signing of midfielder Jimmy Smith from Stevenage for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old former Chelsea trainee has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at the Broadfield Stadium. Manager John Gregory told the club website: "I first knew Jimmy when I was at QPR and I'm delighted he is now going to be playing for me. "He's an aggressive, energetic midfielder player and I like his attitude. He's a warrior and he galvanises the players around him. "He's got a lot of experience at this level and I think he's capable of even more and I'm delighted he's coming to Crawley because I think he can really improve our squad." Smith made 49 appearances for Boro this season, scoring three goals, but could not prevent them from being relegated to League Two. He said: "I have worked with John before and I'm delighted to be here and I'm looking forward to playing under him again. "I enjoyed my time at Stevenage and it's disappointing that it ended in relegation but this is a great new challenge for me and I can't wait for June 30 and the start of pre-season training so I can meet the other lads and get cracking."
