Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has committed his future to the club, ending speculation of a move to Manchester City.

Manchester City had been linked with attacking full-back

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has committed his future to the club, ending speculation of a move to Manchester City. The newly-crowned Premier League champions were linked with a big-money move for the Brazilian international this summer. German outfit Schalke were also linked with a bid for the 29-year-old last month, though the Bundesliga club later publically denied the claims. Now the former Sevilla star has sought to end the speculation once and for all by confirming he intends to stay at the Camp Nou for the foreseeable future. "I want to continue to make history with Barcelona;" he told Sport. "I have no plans to leave the club because I am very comfortable here and I have a contract that is still going. "We have a great group of players here and I love going into training with them every day."

Great news

Alves also confirmed he had received positive news regarding his recovery from a shoulder injury. The defender broke his collarbone during training last month and was forced to undergo an operation, ruling him out for between six and eight weeks. That not only ended his domestic season prematurely but also put his participation in this summer's Olympic football tournament in doubt. However, Alves has now revealed he is on his way to recovery, adding: "Now I have been given some great news. "Not being able to move freely did bother me. "It was my first serious injury at Barca and it affected me badly from the start."
