Marcelo Bielsa did not wish to be drawn on his future as Chile coach after seeing his team knocked out of the World Cup by a 'superior' Brazil side.
Chile had been one of the most impressive teams during the group phase of the tournament, but failed to claim top spot in Group H after a final game defeat by Spain.
That meant a showdown with five-time winners Brazil in Johannesburg and, after a bright start, Chile were overpowered by their opponents in a 3-0 reverse.
A first-half double whammy from Juan and Kaka rocked Chile on their heels and Robinho scored Brazil's third before the hour mark to set up a quarter-final clash with Holland.
Bielsa had no quarrel with the result after the game and acknowledged Chile were unable to stem the flow of their South American rivals.
And the former Argentina boss also declined to comment on whether he would be staying in charge of Chile following his team's exit.
Justified
"We made it to the last 16, the elimination of the team is justified, perhaps we could have lost by less, but the superiority of Brazil was too much for us," said Bielsa.
"We were unable to slow them down.
"As to my continuity in the job as coach, this is not the right time to talk about that."
Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo believes his team must improve in defence if they are to progress beyond the last 16 of a World Cup in the future.
Bravo said: "We have been beaten by one of the best teams in the world. We gave everything but we came up against a team that was very solid and played good football.
"We are good going forward, but we have a fair bit of progress to make when it comes to defending."
