Barcelona all but booked their passage to the Copa del Rey final courtesy of a 5-2 defeat of Getafe in the first leg of their semi-final.
Frank Rijkaard's side were always in control from the moment Xavi gave them an 18th minute lead, before Lionel Messi took over proceedings with a virtuoso display.
It was the brilliant Argentine that doubled the advantage for a rampant home side with a goal that is unlikely to be bettered all season.
Messi received the ball inside his own half before mesmerising a host of Getafe's players and then rounding a goalkeeper for the most sublime of goals. To add insult to injury, he added a third just before the break.
Bernd Schuster's Getafe side staged a mini but ultimately fruitless fight back in the second half, as they struck back on the hour mark with some excellent football of their own.
Two goals within as many minutes from Daniel Guiza and Nacho gave Getafe hope, but Barca responded like champions, as Eidur Gudjohnsen and Samuel Eto'o put them on course for a final place.
The second leg will take place at Coliseum Alfonso Perez on 9th May.
