Javier Saviola believes France are missing out by ignoring Ludovic Giuly when selecting squads.
Giuly is frequently snubbed by France coach Raymond Domenech despite still being a regular at Barcelona.
Saviola, a team-mate of the midfielder at Camp Nou, feels Giuly (pictured) is being unfairly left out by Domenech.
"Without doubt Ludovic Giuly deserves a call up to the French team," Saviola told L'Equipe. "He is an international player.
"He has so many qualities, but sometimes, first the coach has to like you.
"Each tactician has his own opinion, which is not always the same as the public opinion."
Meanwhile, Saviola has confessed he struggled to come to terms with life in France during a loan spell at Monaco.
The Argentinian striker had a season-long loan with the Principality side but admits he never really adapted.
Saviola said: "I have very good memories of Monaco - a very nice city, friendship with my team-mates.
"On a sporting level, it was not as good as I expected.
"Ligue 1 caused me a lot of problems, it is a very physical competition with difficult tactical systems."
