Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has spoken of his delight at Eidur Gudjohnsen's Copa del Rey double on Wednesday night.
The Icelandic international scored twice in the 2-1 win over Badalona to take his Barca tally to four since moving to the Liga champions from Chelsea over the summer.
Gudjohnsen was the subject of some criticism after failing to score against his former side in the UEFA Champions League meeting between the two titans, but bounced back to form with the brace against the third division outfit.
Rijkaard is relying on the former Bolton man in Samuel Eto'o's enforced absence due to injury, and the Dutchman admitted he was delighted to see Gudjohnsen shrug off his critics to provide a match-winning contribution.
"I'm really pleased for him," said Rijkaard.
"It's important for strikers to get on the scoresheet."
Barca skipper Carles Puyol also threw his support behind the striker by praising his all-round game.
"We have always had confidence in him," added Puyol.
"He is a great player and the important thing is that he creates chances because with the quality he has got the goals will come."
