Maxi Lopez is keen to secure a move to Villarreal, according to the Barcelona forward's agent.
The 22-year-year-old Argentine has had limited opportunities at Camp Nou, making just two La Liga starts last term, and has been widely tipped to move on.
A host of clubs across the continent have been linked with Lopez, while he has also attracted attention from South America.
Lopez's representative Dario Bombani confirmed that he was growing frustrated with a lack of regular football, and indicated that a move to Villarreal could be on the cards.
"Until recently Maxi wanted to stay at Barcelona because he thought he would get some chances to play but now we know that they want to buy another striker he would accept a transfer or loan deal," he said.
"Maxi would like to play at Villarreal because he has known the coach Manuel Pellegrini since they worked together at River Plate.
"I think that would be the best choice for Maxi thinking ahead to the new season."
