Giuly confident of France call

Ludovic Giuly is confident that he will be named in France's World Cup squad.

Ludovic Giuly is confident that he will be named in France's World Cup squad.

The Barcelona midfielder maintains that he has had a good season, despite not being a regular starter at Camp Nou, and expects to be included by Raymond Domenech this summer.

Speculation in France has suggested that the 29-year-old could be overlooked in favour of Marseille starlet Franck Ribery, but Giuly believes he will get the nod.

"I have not played every game this season, but that is the way here," he explained.

"But I have had a good season, and have always considered myself a starting XI player.

"Ribery is a good player who is having an excellent season, but he has received a lot more media coverage than me.

"I would not understand it if I was not picked, whether it was Ribery or someone else. The most important thing is to be in Germany."

Giuly has one year left on his Barcelona contract, but is not sure where his long-term future lies.

"I have a lot of offers, from France and other countries. But I have no offer from Barca, where I still have one year remaining on my contract," he said.

"Anything can happen. We will see."
