Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez has rejected a request from River Plate, the club where he began his career.
With the likes of Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o at Barcelona, the 21-year-old has endured a frustrating season on the sidelines, making only two appearances this term.
He was linked with several top clubs across Europe in the January transfer widow, and has recently been tipped to return to his native Argentina.
However, Lopez has now revealed that he turned down an offer from River Plate, and that he will see out the season with Barcelona before reviewing his career options in the summer.
"I am going to end the current season playing at Barcelona," he asserted. "Although I have not played a lot I never thought about leaving.
"I admit that I received an offer from River and that is something different because it was the club where I started my career, but my decision is to stay at Barcelona until the season ends."
