Maxi Lopez is desperate to prove his worth to Barcelona after falling down Frank Rijkaard's pecking order this season.
The Argentine striker has been limited to a handful of opportunities this season and is frustrated at kicking his heels on the sidelines.
Lopez has been linked with a move to River Plate, but while he is unaware of any interest from the South American giants he would relish the chance to compete in the Copa Libertadores.
"I've heard River are looking for a striker to replace the injured (Luciano) Figueroa but to tell you the truth no one has been in touch with me," said Lopez.
"I speak with Rijkaard every week and although I've not had many chances to play recently the team has a lot of games coming up and that could give me the chance to prove myself.
"I still want to demonstrate why I came to Barcelona.
"If River and Barca agree a loan for me to play in the Copa Libertadores I would accept it because I owe it to myself to win that trophy.
"I came very close in 2004 so it would be a nice opportunity to try again this year."
