Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta insists Barcelona have only themselves to blame if they do not retain the Spanish title this season.

The Catalans have roused themselves from a sluggish start and have won their last three league outings, scoring ten goals and conceding none in the process, to move up to second in the table.

Motta himself is now pushing for a first-team spot after recovering from a terrible run with injuries, but knows he faces a real battle for a regular berth.

However, it is that strength in depth that has convinced Motta that Barca are the best-equipped team to clinch the Primera crown.

"With the team we have, it would be hard to take if we didn't win the league," he stated.

"We have the team to do it, it just depends on us.

"It would not be a disappointment, but it would be hard to take as it's in our hands."

The Catalans sit one place and one point ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid and the two teams are scheduled to meet on November 20 at El Santiago Bernabeu.

Motta admits the reigning champions are aiming to go into that clash sitting at the top of the table to hold a psychological advantage.

"It would be very important to arrive at the Bernabeu as leaders, it would be added pressure for them," he added.
