La Liga round-up

Barcelona produced a grandstand finish to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to Zaragoza.

Barcelona produced a grandstand finish to snatch a 2-2 draw from their home clash with Real Zaragoza.

The Catalans looked to be heading towards defeat as they entered the final 12 minutes 2-0 down at Camp Nou.

After a rather lifeless first period in which Samuel Eto'o missed the only presentable chance, the visitors stunned the home crowd with two goals in four minutes shortly after the interval.

Argentine defender Gabriel Milito opened the scoring, nodding home at the far post after Savio's free-kick from the right had been flicked on.

His brother Diego then got in on the act, prodding home from close range after Barca keeper Victor Valdes had parried a fierce drive from Savio straight up into the air and into his path.

Time looked to be running out for the hosts, but they were given a lifeline when referee Carlos Megia Davila awarded them a spot-kick 12 minutes from time when Delio Toledo was adjudged to have tripped substitute Mark van Bommel in the box.

Toledo was also shown his second yellow card for the incident and when Ronaldinho rifled home the spot-kick for a second time having been made to retake it after a successful first attempt, the visitors braced themselves for a Barca onslaught in the closing moments.

It duly arrived as Henrik Larsson wasted a good opportunity and then set up Eto'o who struck the post.

After their luck Zaragoza appeared to have done enough, but were punished for some defensive hesitancy when Eto'o nipped in between Alvaro and goalkeeper Cesar to gleefully fire home and earn his side a point.

Although the sense of relief was palpable, it means Barca have won only two of their opening six league games.

Elsewhere, Getafe reclaimed top spot in La Primera with a stunning late victory over Valencia.

The match marked the return of Che boss Quique Flores to his former club and things seemed to be going well when David Villa fired the visitors ahead just before the half hour mark.

However, Riki restored parity three minutes before the interval and Pablo Redondo sent the home crowd into raptures when he fired home shortly before the final whistle.
