Ronnie hails vital win

Ronaldinho believes Sunday's win over Getafe was a key victory in their title charge.

Real Madrid won in Levante earlier on Sunday, piling the pressure on Barca by reducing the gap at the top to just three points.

However, Frank Rijkaard's side showed little nervousness as they dispatched Getafe 2-0, thanks to superb free kick from Ronaldinho and a goal from Ludovic Giuly.

The Brazilian playmaker was inspirational in Camp Nou and he says that it was vital that Barca responded with a victory, but says they were already focused on the next game.

"We have gained a key victory, but we must already think about getting three points from the next game," said Ronaldinho.

"It was a very special night.

"In training I try all types of free kicks to try and surprise the goalkeepers and now it seems as though it is giving me good results."

Barca coach Rijkaard says that his team was intelligent enough to ignore Real Madrid's result and just concentrate on their own game.

"I have seen a team that has functioned very well and the reason for this was that they prepared very well for the match," said Rijkaard.

"The players are intelligent and they have given a performance that stands out.

"We have deserved to win but it is necessary always to make the difference count. At 1-0 we saw a team that grew within itself, it recovered its group mentality and organisation but more than anything it was the mentality.

"Each one of us are part of a group and with this mentality the players are brought together and in the end it has delivered."

Other good news for Barca came as Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta made his return to action as a substitute after being out for six months with a serious knee injury.
