Joan Laporta believes that Barcelona could still sign Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi, but admits the club will not rush into buying anyone in the January transfer window.

The Catalan giants have confirmed that they will bring in a defensive midfielder this winter and the Juve man has been reported to head their list of wanted players.

It was rumoured that the Serie A side told Laporta that Tacchinardi is not available, when he met with Juve officials at the Champions League draw on Friday.

"The main reason why we believe that the door has not been shut is that the player has not played very much for them this season," said Laporta. "Besides, Juventus still have the possibility of signing another midfielder in January.

"The deal is still possible, but we do not have hurry to sign anyone. If it was really urgent we would already have done a deal.

"Rijkaard has not pressed the board to bring someone in and is happy with the squad and with the team."
