Barcelona returned to winning ways following a 2-1 win over Getafe.

The Catalan giants were held by Celtic in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, but resumed normal service on Saturday night.

Two goals in the space of two minutes saw Deco (pictured) and Rafael Marquez fire Barca into an unassailable lead.

Gheorghe Craioveanu did pull one back for the home side on the hour mark but it proved nothing more than a consolation.

The home side finished the game with just ten men when goalscorer Craioveanu was dismissed for foul and abusive language.

Espanyol maintained their impressive start to the season with a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid.

After a scoreless first half former Barcelona striker Dani broke the deadlock from the penalty spot after 52 minutes.

The lead lasted just three minutes when Nano equalised for Atletico.

However, Dani's second of the game, when he lashed home from Ivan De La Pena's incisive pass settled matters.

Athletic Bilbao eased their relegation worries following a 3-0 success over Racing Santander.

The win, just Bilbao's fourth of the campaign, was set in motion through Santiago Ezquerro after seven minutes.

The home side were in firm control shortly after when Carlos Gurpegi added a second for the Basque side.

Experienced striker Ismael Urzaiz completed the win with a third shortly after the hour mark.
