Juventus are reportedly ready to allow Alessio Tacchinardi to join Barcelona in January.

The Catalan giants are looking to bring in a defensive midfielder during the transfer window after long-term injuries to both Thiago Motta and Edmilson.

A host of players have been linked with a switch to Camp Nou including Olivier Dacourt, Edu, Edgar Davids, Dietmar Hamann and Gerrardo Torrado, but Tacchinardi appears to be top of Barca's wish-list.

The 29-year-old has failed to force himself into Fabio Capello's first team and is willing to move to get regular football.

Barca are keen to thrash out a loan deal similar to the one they agreed with the Turin giants for Davids last season.

The Dutch star joined for six months and the two clubs shared his wage bill, now Tacchinardi could be set to make the same move.

Reports in Spain claim Juve are prepared to let the midfielder move on after his loyal service to the club - especially as he has made his desire to join the Spaniards clear.

One negative for Barca is the fact he has already played in the UEFA Champions League this term and would thus be ineligible to represent Frank Rijkaard's men in the competition.

Barca are also understood not to be interested in a permanent move for Tacchinardi because of his age, and would let him return to Juve after his loan spell.
