Speaking ahead of this weekend's eagerly-anticipated 'derbi' clash between Real Madrid and Barca, the Spanish international defender pinpointed Edgar Davids as the catalyst to the Catalans' revival.
Salgado conceded that Ronaldinho had made a huge impression at Camp Nou this term, but insisted it was the arrival of Davids from Juventus in the January transfer window that kick-started their season.
"Barcelona is more than just Ronaldinho," the Real full back declared.
"He is their attacking reference, a diificult opponent to mark who makes a difference by doing unexpected things.
"But the most important thing has been the arrival of Davids who has given them a very important balance."
Salgado also feels that Barca will be a particularly dangerous rival for Los Merengues as they will be playing to keep alive their slim hopes of the Primera title.
Frank Rijkaard's men currently sit some seven points behind both Real and Valencia with five games remaining and must win in El Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday to maintain any chance of staying in with a shout.
"They will be dangerous because they are playing for their last chances of the title," he continued.
"Whilst there is still a mathematical chance you must bear them in mind.
"They have the least chance of the three because the gap in the championship is significant.
"In general our year has been better than Barcelona's, although they have been more consistent than us in the second half of the season."
